Story by Laina Barakat & Brandon Bedaw

Synopsis:
With childhood quickly coming to an end, 13 year old Hanna finds herself lost in the chaos at home. Escaping into the wilderness of rural New Hampshire, she finds herself trekking deeper and deeper into the imaginative play that has kept her safe and happy since she was a child.

During this fantastical journey of truth seeking, she is forced to confront questions of morality, responsibility, and identity within the limitless bounds of her imagination on a quest to find her own path.

Technique & Style:

Drifting between a gritty and dark real world existence that pushes our lead character, Hanna, into scenarios and decisions beyond the responsibility of youth, and the boundless places her imagination discovers, Through the Wood treads between drama and adventure in this intimate piece, moving deftly between cinema verite and cinema spectacular. Wide steady shots will capture the expanse of a world beyond her home, while tighter free moving shots will follow close to our heroine.
